The World’s Best-Preserved galleon from the 1600s.

Commissioned by King Gustav II Adolf during Sweden's Great Power Era, and built between 1626 and 1628, the Vasa was to be the most powerful warship not only in the Baltic Sea, but in the entire world. More than 98% of the Vasa is totally original, including masts and sails, so it does not appear to be a ship that was wrecked, but rather it seems to be a ship awaiting her next trip.

But just 20 minutes into its maiden voyage, and just 1,300 meters from shore, the ship Vasa capsized and sank into the Stockholm Harbor on August 10, 1628.

After lying on the seabed for 333 years, today this magnificent warship from the 1600s is the best preserved and most important galleon in the world.

Today, the warship VASA is one of the best treasures in the world and has been visited by more than 40 million people, making it the most visited museum in Scandinavia.

In 2015, the Vasa Museum was listed among the10 best museums in the world according to TripAdvisor.

During your visit to Stockholm, the Vasa Museum is a must-see, an experience not to be missed.
